Sherwood in home colours of blue and black welcomed AFC Kilburn to Debdale Park.

Sherwood made the most of the opening 10 minutes dominating possession but repeatedly found themselves in scrappy positions in front of goal.

The first chance of the game came early in the first half for Sherwood, a free kick was fired back into play by the keeper, Shaw chased fining the head of Harris who lost the ball after being knocked underneath.

Kilburn went straight onto the attack winning a free kick at the edge of the box, this was fired straight over the cross bar.

Sherwood made a quick break away, Jamie York hungry for a goal chased the length of the pitch but was cut short by a well timed Kilburn tackle.

Frustration built early for both teams as the the game remained goalless despite constant attacking football. Kilburn, 5, was booked in the 15th minute after a charging late tackle on Sherwood’s Max Curzon.

SCFC were dominating possession at this point but seemed unable to get themselves a goal.

After 26 minutes Kilburn came into their own, making several shots on target at Sherwood’s net all denied on the line.

Jamie York was brought down in the area winning a Sherwood penalty in the 31st minute.

Julian Topliss took the penalty, comfortably shooting down the center as the keeper dived left (1 – 0)

Kilburn were quick to react to the goal going straight on the attack, taking over possession creating a series of chances. Sherwood defence worked hard keeping their efforts out of the net.

Frustrated captain, Shaw, urged his team mates to regain some control.

Sherwood did just that, following a classy sequence of passes York crossed into the box, finding Curzon who causally directed the ball past Kilburn keeper making it 2 – 0.

Jamie York was rewarded for his effort early in the second half, finding the back of the net from a running strike in the 48th minute. (3 – 0)

Kilburn tried to win back control quickly with a shot that was headed away by Jordan Harris.

Losing his footing Harris fell to the floor needing medical attention on his neck, no serious injury was sustained.

An aggravated Kilburn number 9 found himself booked after 55 minutes, Jamie York takes the free kick but unfortunately this time only finds the cross bar.

A fourth goal came for Sherwood in the 73rd minute. An attacking Smyth Gilliatt partnership was rightly rewarded by a goal from Josh Smyth. (4 – 0)

Gilliatt and York continue to add pressure on Kilburn, teasing in front of goal but fail to make efforts payoff

Kilburn, unlucky to be goalless, playing continued attacking football but failing every time to beat the SCFC defence.

80th minute saw some questionable refereeing as a penalty was awarded to Kilburn after the ball hit the lowered arm of Harris.

Kilburn made the most of Sherwood’s frustration at the, clear, error in refereeing. Firing their penalty straight onto the net. (4 – 1)

Sherwood still unsettled fought back after conceiving, Dale Gilliatt broke away but was brought down just outside the area.

Max Curzon, ended the game in the 87th minute, beating the Kilburn defence to find the back of the net (5 -1)

Sherwood were unlucky to end the game without a clean sheet following their strong defence though out the match. Despite missing first team regulars, walked away worthy of the three points from a good footballing opposition.
